Once you book your first appointment to come and meet the team, be assured that we allow 45 minutes to one hour to spend with you to discuss your treatment expectations/goals in full. We take a full medical history to ensure that you are suitable for treatment and if your skin is your concern, we will carry out a full skin analysis.
It is normal to be a bit apprehensive, we've all heard lasers can be painful but we will do our utmost to put you at ease. Whilst the sensation can be a bit snappy, it is also super-quick and most tolerate it well. We have a cooling device which aids comfort and downtime.
Once we have established your needs and we're happy you're suitable for treatment, we carry out a patch test. This is a crucial part of the process, not least of which for insurance purposes. The main goal is to ensure that your skin is going to tolerate treatment well. If you were to get a negative reaction (though this would be very rare), better that it's on a small area than a whole leg for instance. We will try a few settings with the laser, starting on lower fluences and working up. Our aim is to achieve maximum results with minimum negative side effects. All these settings will be recorded and used in your actual treatment. We ask that you wait one week between patch test and treatment to ensure that all eventualities have been covered.
